En este contexto, un grupo de investigadores desarroll\u00f3 un <strong>pl\u00e1stico biodegradable elaborado a partir de bamb\u00fa<\/strong>, capaz de <strong>degradarse completamente en el suelo en aproximadamente 50 d\u00edas<\/strong>, sin dejar residuos t\u00f3xicos (Li et al., 2025).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>El material, denominado <strong>BM-plastic<\/strong>, fue creado mediante <strong>ingenier\u00eda molecular de la celulosa del bamb\u00fa<\/strong>, un recurso natural renovable y de r\u00e1pido crecimiento. El proceso consiste en disolver la celulosa con una soluci\u00f3n eut\u00e9ctica de cloruro de zinc y \u00e1cido f\u00f3rmico, modificando qu\u00edmicamente sus enlaces para formar un nuevo pol\u00edmero resistente y flexible (Nature Communications, 2025).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Entre sus principales ventajas destacan su <strong>alta resistencia mec\u00e1nica<\/strong> (hasta 110 MPa), su <strong>estabilidad t\u00e9rmica<\/strong> (m\u00e1s de 180 \u00b0C) y su <strong>biodegradaci\u00f3n natural<\/strong> sin necesidad de procesos industriales. Adem\u00e1s, puede <strong>reciclarse hasta un 90 %<\/strong>, lo que permite un ciclo de vida m\u00e1s sostenible (New Atlas, 2025).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Aunque el desarrollo representa un gran avance frente a los pl\u00e1sticos derivados del petr\u00f3leo, a\u00fan enfrenta <strong>retos de producci\u00f3n y costos<\/strong>, adem\u00e1s de requerir certificaciones ambientales para su uso masivo.
